Dental Emergencies Treatment

The proper intervention with emergency dental care can save your smile. But it may be difficult to determine if what you are experiencing is an emergency. Persistent pain is a sign that something is wrong, especially if you’re unsure why it’s happening or you know you can’t treat the pain yourself. If you experienced an injury to your mouth or teeth through a specific activity, you may also need to see your dentist immediately. Fallen teeth or dental work, also qualify as emergencies — nothing should be falling out of your mouth. If you’re still unsure, please give us a call and one of our team members can help determine if you need to be seen right away, and guide you through self-care in the meantime.

Dental emergency treatment is available at Prime Dental in Tyler Tx and the surrounding area. This procedure can relieve dental pain and save your tooth. Call us at (903) 710-1779 to learn more about our services or schedule an appointment today.

Dental Emergencies

Emergency dentistry refers to dental treatments provided when a patient suffers from pain or other problems that require immediate care. A dental emergency can be any condition in which a patient is experiencing severe pain or discomfort, is bleeding, or has sustained an injury to the mouth, teeth, or gums.

At Prime Dental, our emergency dentist is equipped to handle a wide range of oral emergencies and offer prompt relief, preventive care, and treatment to address acute dental issues, ensuring patients receive timely assistance and relief from pain or potential dental complications.

Common Dental Emergencies

Broken Teeth

A tooth should be treated as soon as possible if it is broken, chipped, cracked, or otherwise damaged. Rinse your mouth with warm water and apply a cold compress to the outside of your face to reduce swelling. If you can find the pieces of the tooth, put them in a glass of milk or water and bring them to your appointment.

Toothache

If you have a toothache, rinse your mouth with salt water and take an over-the-counter pain reliever like ibuprofen. Call our dentist to schedule an appointment if the pain persists for more than a few hours.

Knocked-out Teeth

If your tooth has been knocked out of the socket entirely, pick it up by the crown and rinse it off gently with water. Do not scrub the root or touch the tooth’s root. Try to put the tooth back in the socket without touching the root. If you cannot do this, place the tooth in a cup of milk and bring it to your appointment.

Lost Fillings or Crowns

If your filling or crown fails, save the pieces and call our office immediately. You can temporarily reattach the crown using dental cement or denture adhesive. Do not use super glue to reattach a crown.

The Benefits of Emergency Dentistry

Stops the Bleeding

A knocked-out tooth can cause bleeding to occur in your mouth. This can be dangerous as excessive blood loss can lead to shock and even death. Our emergency dentist in Tyler, TX, can treat your injury to stop the bleeding and prevent further complications.

Relieves Pain

Dental emergencies are painful. Seeking treatment from an emergency dentist in Tyler, TX, can help to relieve your pain. They’ll perform the necessary procedures to help alleviate the pain you’re experiencing.

Prevents Infection

Infections in the mouth can be severe if not treated quickly. They can lead to other health problems like heart disease, stroke, and diabetes. An emergency dentist can help prevent infection by treating any injuries that occur.
